# FORMAT\_DATE

FORMAT_DATE(date,output_pattern)
```

Returns a string representation of a date value according to a given pattern.

Available in:

*Sample code:*

USE `kafka`;
SELECT 
    FORMAT_DATE(_meta.timestamp,'dd-MM-yyyy HH:mm'),

```
